James I. Anthony, Jr.
Jim has one of the most diverse and distinguished commercial real estate track records in the southeastern United States. In a career spanning over 35 years, Mr. Anthony has amassed a total transaction volume of over $1B in nearly every type of real estate. Through his investment and development firm, Anthony Property Group, he has syndicated partnerships throughout the southeast and mid-atlantic regions, acquiring and selling investments with a total value of over $500MM. His expertise and insight related to economic development, regional and urban planning, transportation and other governmental matters is held in high regard among institutions, businesses, lenders, investors, developers, and senior government officials.
Richard J. Bowden
Rick oversees Anthony Property Group’s centralized accounting department, responsible for all financial functions and reporting performed throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic region. Rick earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation while working in the auditing department of Coopers & Lybrand in Los Angeles, California. He has worked in the real estate industry since 1986 and has vast experience in taxes, finance, property management, development, multi-family, commercial, retail, and escrow. Rick’s expertise of over 25 years in real estate ensures the maximum return of your real estate investment.
Ed started his real estate career in 1982 working for a regional general contractor in Upstate New York, and has since established a successful career in the development and construction arenas of commercial real estate. Ed’s diverse skill set includes raw land entitlement and development, investor and client relations, project design and construction management, entity creation and financial analysis. These skills, combined with his years in the industry, enables him to lead large real estate projects successfully from creation to completion. Ed has developed and constructed / rehabilitated several thousand single family homes and multi-family units throughout the Southeast. His focus and goal is to maximize returns for all stakeholders with transparency and fairness.
Daniel Walser serves as vice president of acquisitions and manages Anthony Property Group’s syndication division. Specifically, Mr. Walser oversees deal specific debt placement, equity syndication, partnership structure, and acquisition execution. His roll includes executing strategic portfolio initiatives to acquire, reposition, develop, and create value in each investment asset. Daniel has facilitated over $115mm in acquisitions, equity and debt syndications, refinancing, dispositions, leases, and 1031 exchanges.
Daniel graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in finance, entrepreneurship, and minor in accounting. Prior to joining Anthony Property Group, Daniel grew the mid-Atlantic portfolio at Square One Bank, structuring venture capital debt and specialty financial solutions to facilitate growth to early stage technology companies. Daniel is deeply involved in the communities he serves, and has accumulated 10+ years with the Northern Wake Fire Department. In addition, Daniel is the Chairman of St. Philip’s Preschool and supports Young Life.
Chief Operating Officer
With 30 plus years of commercial and mixed-use development expertise in the Carolinas, Wayne Hightower leads a professionally managed, self-administered company with a staff of immensely talented professionals having substantial experience in all areas of real estate acquisition and development. Wayne’s management and guidance spans from the acquisition evaluation process including site selection, conceptual planning, pre-development studies, financial modelling and project programming, continuing through all phases of the development process that includes governmental approvals and entitlements, planning, permitting and leading the creative and design process along with project management programming and execution through lease-up and/or sales.
Prior to joining Anthony Property Group, as Principal and Development Manager, Wayne has successfully developed single and multi-family residential communities, office, retail and mixed-use projects throughout the Carolinas. Among numerous awards, he was named Developer of the Year in 1996 and earned the distinction of developing the “Top Retail Development, 2006 Triangle Space Awards for Alexander Village at Brier Creek”. As Director of Development for a regional real estate opportunity fund, he led the development of an extremely successful mixed-use commercial and residential community, working with the local municipality to create the Town’s first Mixed-Use Zoning ordinance that included 265 apartment units and commercial properties.
James I. Anthony, III
James brings over nine years of commercial real estate experience to the APG team. With a background in property management, brokerage, asset management, and finance, he provides a broad skill set. James facilitates investor relations, assists with new acquisitions, asset management and dispositions for APG’s diverse portfolio. As a Raleigh native, James draws upon his extensive local network, market knowledge, and experience to provide APG’s clients with the highest quality service and superior returns.
Jason brings over 16 years of experience and a background in architecture, commercial investment sales and development management to his role as a Project Manager for Anthony Property Group.
Prior to entering the commercial real estate industry, Jason worked over seven years at design and planning firms across the country on numerous hospitality, aviation, office, industrial and retail projects. After transitioning into commercial real estate, Jason spent over five years with Marcus & Millichap where he was a licensed broker and managed over $165 million of investment sales. Jason’s development management experience includes over $120 million of ground-up projects while at Specht Properties with institutional partners that included NY Life Real Estate Investors, Guggenheim Partners & ASB Capital Management, and an emphasis on large-scale distribution, urban office and mixed-use multifamily projects.
At Anthony Property Group, Jason assists the COO on all project phases (acquisition, due diligence, financial underwriting, entitlements, capitalization, consultant coordination, lease-up and disposition) for prospective investments and ground-up real estate development opportunities.
Vice President, Acquisitions
A 35-year industry veteran in investment sales, Jim focuses on land acquisition, multifamily, & income-producing properties. He is considered one of the foremost experts on the Raleigh-Durham multifamily market, having brokered the sale of land and communities for more than 30 apartments. His knowledge of the multifamily industry has led to extensive work with local, regional and national multifamily developers. Jim also works extensively with regional and national homebuilders on procurement of land.
In addition, he has brokered numerous shopping center and mixed-use sites. He was part of the team that assembled the land for The Streets of Southpoint Mall in Durham. He has also provided consultation services to numerous grocery-anchored shopping center developers, most recently having brokered the site for Wegman’s Grocery on Davis Drive in Cary. Jim has assisted in site selection, due diligence, site planning and entitlement for a wide range of clients including Leyland Alliance, Wells Fargo, Greystar, Blue Heron Fund and Weingarten Realty.
Ed currently works as an assistant project manager for Anthony Property Group, working on a variety of development & entitlement projects. Prior to joining APG, Ed worked for two years on the Colliers RDU multifamily brokerage team as an analyst.
As a native of Raleigh, Ed has strong ties to the community and an intimate knowledge of the market. His experience in the commercial real estate industry began when he assumed the role of asset manager for the family real estate portfolio. Prior to joining Colliers International, Ed worked as an actuary in the automobile insurance business.
Assistant Project Manager
Bud currently serves as the field coordinator for properties being developed by Anthony Property Group. Bud’s responsibilities involve all aspects of construction management, permitting, and environmental issues. Bud also works closely with the rest of the team on identifying potential real estate opportunities. Prior to coming to Anthony & Co., Bud worked for 16 years performing heavy civil work in the Newport News Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard and various concrete projects for high-rise buildings and water and wastewater treatment plants. Before starting work in the shipyards Bud worked as a commercial boat captain running a ferry in North Carolina and a supply vessel in offshore Mexican oil fields. Bud has over 20 years of experience in solving construction problems in difficult environments. His knowledge of construction, particularly in the areas of site work infrastructure design review and installation supervision, adds significant value to the team efforts.
